Amanda Barrett is a Canadian country singer/songwriter hailing from Toronto, Ontario. Music has always been a big part of her life. Amanda credits her grandmother for her early love affair with the genre. As she used to put it, “Amanda came out of the womb singing”. Country music was always on the radio at granny’s house, and together they’d watch Dolly Parton movies and sing along to “Coat Of Many Colours”. Dolly was a huge inspiration, along with (of course!) fellow Canadian country superstar Shania Twain. Amanda is determined to blaze a similar path.

Amanda’s no stranger to public performance. She spent 3 years as a cheerleader with the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts. During a late flight home from a game, everyone started calling out to the flight attendants to turn off the lights. At that point, she broke into an acapella version of “Turn Your Lights Down Low” by Bob Marley and the whole plane went silent. She was strongly encouraged by the players and her cheerleading teammates to pursue music as a career. The revelation that one of their cheerleaders could sing quickly led to an invitation for Amanda to sing the national anthem before a game at the Tim Hortons Stadium in Hamilton, with an audience of 24,000.

Shortly after, while at a photo shoot, Amanda met fellow musician/songwriter Gerard Patrick and the two co-wrote 27 songs in 12 months, 3 of which are on the debut EP along with 2 of Amanda’s solo compositions.

Amanda Barrett’s debut EP “Where I stand” is a sultry mix of modern country with outlaw country, and southern rock influences. The album was recorded and produced by John Johnson in Covington, Georgia, where country music lives. It’s scheduled for radio release and worldwide multi-platform digital release on March 14, 2019.
